When Karen Clark, a television and film Production designer from Toronto, Canada, made the decision not to sell her tropical property in downtown Playa Del Carmen, Mexico to condominium developers, the alternative was opening her set-like palapa home to locals and tourists as an eating and entertainment oasis.
Karen started with MacDonald type McMuffins and the response to her forest-in-the-city landscape was overwhelming and within a month she had opened a full-fledged morning spot, offering hearty Mexican and American breakfasts.
Her love of Indian food led her to expand her hours to dinner, where she calls some of her dishes Indian-inspired; curries, mango chutneys and chais tantalize Indian food lovers.
With some musician friends encouragement, she has built a stage so now most Saturdays are hopping with live music.
Classical music played by Yvon Pepin, a Canadian guitarist from Quebec graces "The Garden" some Sunday mornings along with their delicious Eggs Benedict.
When you are in Playa Del Carmen, come visit the Garden Of Eating, a wonderful eating experience in a lush tropical setting with waterfalls and fountain..... right in the heart of the City! One and a half blocks west on Calle 20 from Senor Frog's Store at 5th Avenue....
